these before purchasing a new system How ABS Works Early systems had separate controllers, pumps and modulators. Then Teves 4 systems and Bosch 2e/2sh systems combined the pump and modulator, with still a separate controller. Post 99 vehicles generally have an all in one system fitted as typified by the Teves 20 system fitted to Fords, Jaguars, Jeeps, Nissans, Volvos, and Volkswagens and the Bosch 5.5 system fitted to Audis, BMWs, Renaults, Saabs, Vauxhalls, and Volkswagens.
