A career at BBA Reman:
Robin Bourne Taylor
Robin Bourne-Taylor is a Global Director at BBA-Reman. Robin has come from a strong educational, sporting
and military background to take a leading role in shaping BBA for the future.
Educated at Oxford university, Robin read Engineering Science at Christ Church to earn his Masters with honours.
While doing this he competed in four Oxford Vs Cambridge University Boat Races. Robin won the Boat Race in 2002,
2003 and his final year when he was President of the club in 2005. He also competed in two World Championships and
the Athens Olympic Games in the British Men’s eight while at University.
“There are many similarities between team sports and business. At BBA we work in a dynamic and fluid
environment, where all our employees have to tackle new challenges each day. As with sport, at BBA we believe
the sum of the parts is far stronger than a group of individuals and we rely on teamwork every day to achieve
our targets.”
Robin then joined the British Army and commissioned into the Household Cavalry Regiment. While training and working as a Troop Commander he managed to get selected again for the British team and competed in another World Rowing Championships and the Beijing Olympic Games. On return from the Olympics he focussed on his military duties and commanded soldiers in Afghanistan. Following his Tour in Afghanistan Robin was awarded the Conspicuous Gallantry Cross, the second highest award for bravery after the VC, for his actions and leadership.
“The military environment provides a discipline and attention to detail that is a great asset to business. The experience of operating in a flexible environment with the ability to make clear decisions under pressure has been a key reason why we have hired top military performers as well as engineers throughout our management team.”
Robin made the decision to leave the army and join BBA in 2010.
“I was faced with the common questions when people decide to change career and I had options in a range of fields including the financial sector. I came across BBA and saw a great opportunity to be a part of a growing and dynamic business with great people and plenty of challenges. Since I joined I haven’t looked back and have been involved in all levels of the business across the world. I think the experience of learning the vital lessons in business has been hugely beneficial and worth multiple MBAs! We have a great base with the people in the team across all our sites in BBA and we are constantly looking to grow this with driven, hard-working, and honest A-star performers in all aspects of our business. Our range of job requirements and our global footprint mean that there is a unique career development opportunity for those who want to succeed and also travel.”
“ We work as a team – with no closed doors.
We choose our people with great care and we
will trust you to manage your time your way
to get the best results.”
