Fault:
The area under the centre console vibrating.
Cars involved:
All vehicles (mainly 1.3 and 1.5L 1994-00).
Reason:
The floor pan and the catalytic converter heat shield are coming in touch.
Solution:
Change the position of the catalytic converter heat shield so that it stays away from the floor pan.
Fault:
The instrument panel making a creaking/ticking sound.
Cars involved:
All vehicles (mainly 1.3 and 1.5L 1994-00).
Reason:
Too much tightening of the speedometer cable in transmission.
Solution:
Loosen the speedometer cable nut in transmission. Tighten it by hand and if needed then change the speedometer cable.
Fault:
When driving into a corner, there is a creaking noise coming from the front left-hand side suspension.
Cars involved:
All vehicles (mainly 1.3 and 1.5L 1994-00).
Reason:
The floor pan and lower suspension arm rear bush are coming in touch.
Solution:
Change the lower suspension arm bushes.
Fault:
The instrument panel is vibrating.
Cars involved:
All vehicles (mainly 1.3 and 1.5L 1994-00).
Reason:
The speedometer cable and inlet manifold are coming in touch.
Solution:
Keep speedometer cable away from inlet manifold with a cable tie.
Atoz 1.0 1998-04
Fault:
Symptoms like stalling engine, car not running smoothly and choking which are experienced more when engine is under load or when reversing.
Cars involved:
All vehicles up to 1999.
Reason:
The wiring leading to the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor, throttle position (TP) switch or distributor damaged.
Solution:
Inspect if wiring is damaged and repair if required making sure the wiring harness is not very tight in retaining clips at bulkhead. Also make sure the presence of free wiring so that the engine can move freely.
Coupe 1.6 1996-02
Fault:
Brake servo area making a noise as well as chance of a brake fluid leak.
Cars involved:
All vehicles which are Right Hand Drive.
Reason:
Friction between brake pipes below the brake servo unit.
Solution:
Make sure the alignment of brake pipes is correct, if not, realign them. If the pipes are damaged, replace them if required.
Lantra 1.6 1995-98
Fault:
Brake servo area making a noise as well as chance of a brake fluid leak.(See above in Coupe 1.6 for details and solution).
Sonata 2.0 16V 1996-98
Fault:
When going over uneven roads, there is a creaking noise coming from the left hand front of the vehicle.
Cars involved:
All vehicles (mainly 2.0 16V 1996-98, 2.5 1998-01 and 3.0 1996-98)
Reason:
Movement of anti-roll bar bushes in D- brackets.
Solution:
Change the anti-roll bar bushes and make sure the D brackets hold them correctly.
