Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0700
Transaxle Control Module Malfunction
Circuit Features
- The serial data link circuit connects both the Transmission Control Module (TCM) and the Engine Control Module (ECM).
- Every 100 milliseconds the TCM sends a Class-II P-code status message to the ECM.
- This is done to verify and check if the transmission is working fine.
- A P-code status message will be sent to the ECM by the TCM in case it finds either an A- or B-type malfunction within the transmission.
- As soon as the ECM gets this message it will immediately to turn the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) ON and set DTC P0700.

|
|
2) Fuel level sensor output < 85% of sensor reading scale in case of SOHC.
|
2) The ECM will begin to record operating conditions when the diagnostic fails. |
2) All DTC(s) can be cleared by using the scan tool. |
|
3) Fuel level sensor output < 98% of sensor reading scale in case of DOHC. |
3) This data will be stored in the Freeze Frame and Failure Records will be boosted.
|
3) If the ECM battery feed is de-linked for more than 10 seconds. |

Assistance in Diagnostic
- A poor connection, rubbed-through wire insulation or a wire broken inside the insulation may cause an intermittent.
- In that case you need to examine for an ill connection or damaged ECM/TCM harness.
- Probe the serial data link circuit for the following conditions:
1) Improper mating
2) Broken locks
3) Improperly formed
4) Damaged terminals
5) Poor terminal-to-wiring connections
6) Physical damage to the wiring harness
