NISSAN MICRA K12 DTC P0226 ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION (APP) SENSOR

This has 2 sensors; they send signals to the ECM, which in turn determines the operation of the engine.

DTC Confirmation Procedure

Switch off ignition and wait for 10 seconds.

Battery voltage should be more than 10V.

 

With Consult II

Switch off ignition.

With Consult II select Data Monitor.

Start and idle engine for 1 second.

Proceed to Diagnostic Procedure if DTC is detected.

 

With GST

Perform the same steps as with Consult II

 

Diagnostic Procedure

When measuring input or output voltage, the ECM ground terminals are not to be used.

 

1.  Tighten:  ground screws.

     Switch off ignition.

     Loosen and tighten body ground screws.

     Proceed to 2

 

2.  Check:  sensor power supply circuit.

     Disconnect the harness connector to the sensor.

     Switch on ignition

     With Consult II check voltage between ground and sensor terminals 4 & 5.(Voltage approx 5V) 

     OK:  proceed to 4                           NG:  proceed to 3

 

3.  Detect:  malfunction, check

     Harness connectors: M1. E101 (RHD Model)

                                      M71. M201 (RHD Model)

     Harness for open / short between ECM and sensor.

     Repair open/short to ground/power in harness/connector.

 

4.  Check:  for open /short in sensor ground circuit.

     Switch off ignition

     Disconnect ECM harness connector.

     Between ECM terminal 82 and sensor terminal 2,

        And     ECM terminal 83 and sensor terminal 1, check for harness continuity.

    There should be continuity.

 Check harness for short to ground / power.

     OK:  proceed to 6                          NG:  proceed to 5.

 

5.  Detect:  malfunction, check

     Harness connectors: M1. E101 (RHD Model)

                                      M71. M201 (RHD Model)

     Harness for open / short between ECM and sensor & TCM and sensor

     Repair open/short to ground/power in harness/connector

 

6.  Check:  for open/short in sensor input signal circuit.

     Between ECM terminal 106 and sensor terminal 3

                    ECM terminal 98   and sensor terminal 6

     for harness continuity.

     There should be continuity.

     Check harness for short to ground / power.

     OK:  proceed to 8                          NG:  proceed to 7.

 

7.  Detect:  malfunction, check

     Harness connectors: M1. E101 (RHD Model)

                                      M71. M201 (RHD Model)

     Harness for open / short between ECM and sensor.

     Repair open/short to ground/power in harness/connector

 

8.  Check:  sensor.

     OK:  proceed to 10                        NG:  proceed to 9.

 

9.  Replace:  sensor, perform

     Accelerator Pedal Released Position Learning.

     Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning.

     Idle Air Volume Learning.

10.  Check:  Intermittent Incident.

       Refer to Trouble Diagnosis for Intermittent Incident

Component Inspection of APP Sensor

Reconnect all harness connectors.

Switch on ignition.

Between engine ground and ECM terminal 106 – APP sensor 1 signal

                                                                       98 – APP sensor 2 signal

Check voltage under following conditions:-

NG:  replace accelerator pedal assembly then proceed to perform

        Accelerator Pedal Released Position Learning.

        Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning.

        Idle Air Volume Learning.
