No single aftermarket scanner is perfect, they all have problems or gaps in the coverage.
If you want to cover a lot (not even everything) you're looking at 4 or 5 scanners.

Which makes do you do the most? European, Asian?
There are some dedicated PC-programs which are near dealer level: Like VCDS for VW/Audi/Skoda/Seat and Op-com for Opel/Vauxhall.

For Japanese and Korean cars the Carmanscan or Launch would be a good choice.

For European cars there are so many after market scanners.
Check out the Superscan II, the Bosch KTS, the Actia Multidiag, just to name a few.

Get one on trial for a couple weeks before you decide.

For VAG (VW/Audi/Skoda/Seat), Vauxhall/Opel, BMW and Porsche there are good single make PC-products, with in-depth covering.
Check out Rosstechs VCDS, Op-com, Bavarian Technic and Durametric.

Autocom is not a bad tool and launch is another good multimake tool, both are good for scanning, live data, activations and basic programming e.g injector coding.

I have a DEC ss3 a Bosch KTS and a HANATECH multiscan , by far the most amount of coverage is with the Hanatech i have used a launch on trial for a week and i found my hanatech covered more
i would reccomend a look at it

I really really like my Autocom for example yesterday a 2006 Subaru Legacy local garage could not read ABD data from with KTS, Gscan and Carman scan. The Autcom read first time. Jap not its speciality but will get you out the brown stuff on it.

Great tool.

same here, looking for another scan machine, everyone i talk to rate the LAUNCH as value for money BigGrin, so its a contender, i looked at the GSCAN, nice small an compact, but cant find many reviews on it, if you utube the gscan, the gscan rep does not deny the tool can be made to lock down after 5000 reads or even 1000 reads Exclamation
