clio 52 plate intermittant non-start 1.2 16 valve

Morning,

Occasionally will crank but not start

When it does,it rotates for 4 turns and then stops cranking

Exactly the same every time

It a long shot but,it seems this only happens when the car is a little low on oil-

Is the car clever enough to turn something off if the level is low??

Darcey, you could easily take the oil level doubt out of the equation!!;). Battery voltage on cranking is important on these clio's. If it drops too low whilst cranking the immobiliser instantly clicks in killing the starter relay. Renault have advised there technicians about this problem. Check all earths/power feeds and try a 2nd battery to eliminate fault..
