The car was running fine up untill she tryed to help a friend out by jump starting her car... the problem is she put the jump leads on the wrong way round..

Now the picasso wont start... I got the rac out and he said she might have fryed the ECU unit. Ive taken it to a garage today to have the codes read and he said he couldnt get any codes up and that this was bad!!

Do you guys think it is the ecu thats the problem or is it something worst than that..

If i was to get a second hand ECU unit would it need programming to the car?

Thanks neil

RE: 2001 CITROEN PICASSO 2.0 hdi NON RUNNER!

Neil

Have you spoken to your insurance company? This is accidental damage.

RE: 2001 CITROEN PICASSO 2.0 hdi NON RUNNER!

Hi

Sure..... you can send it to BBA and they'll check/repair the ECU.

My only thought was though that on a 2001 car it may be more cost efficient to replace the system from a known running vehicle.

You should pick up a complete set for around a £100

Not sure what the charges are for testing and/or repairing ECU but I think it may come to more than that.

You can always fit a new virgin ECU and have it programmed to car, but again I think you'll be talking tel. numbers !!!!

Dave

RE: 2001 CITROEN PICASSO 2.0 hdi NON RUNNER!

Hi

Thanks for reply.

Sounds like its going to cost a fortune to fix!! Is there anywhere i can take the ecu to get it looked at for a diagnostic or repair?

thanks neil

RE: 2001 CITROEN PICASSO 2.0 hdi NON RUNNER!

Chances are that the ECU or BSI has been fried
Usually if you can't talk to the ECU, after such an incident, it's the ECU that's fried, but check the supply fuses too.

If your going down the road of using used parts, you'll need the ECU / BSI / Key fob.

You can change the key blade to suit original locks.

Always best to make a note of reg. no of donor vehicle for future use. ie. obtaining immo code.

You'll also need an invoice from breakers as proof of change of ECU etc. to obtain the immo code as you won't have a V5 with correct reg no.

You can always read the vin no of the donor ECU, when fitted, using a key programmer like AD100 and obtain immo code from that.

Also make sure that the vehicle you obtain the used parts from is exactly the same spec vehicle.

Dave
