Hi Guys,

In desperate need of some help, I have a 55 plate Renault Traffic, 1.9 dci 100 which is in use every day, never a problem since new. Now it just turns over and wont fire although a quick squirt of easy start and away it goes, runs/drives fine, but wont restart unless it gets a quick squirt of easy start??? When the van is running it now occasionally cuts out only when driving uphill, leave it in gear, turn ignition off then back on and it is fine again? I also noticed that the STOP light occasionally flickers then goes off. These are the only symptoms/issues the van has. Your help would be greatly appreciated!!

Best Regards

Al

Al you would need to get scaned for fault codes first, prob fuel pressure fault.

Then check is there fuel getting to hp pump, check transfer pump on hp pump and injector leak off test.

If you dont have equipment or know how then send to garage who can fix

Hi Damian, It has been to two garages and so far cost a small fortune, but problem still exists. The mechanic in last garage said it was a low pressure fuel issue. Have removed fuel tank and cleaned out, checked and cleaned out flow and return fuel pipes, replaced faulty hand syphon pump, cleaned out and checked fuel filter. It wont start off the key but will with easy start or starts straight away with push. Once its running it drives fine, thats what I do not understand. I need to fix it myself as like many others monies tight just now! Any further help greatly appreciated! Thanks Al

Al

What fault-codes did they find?  What was the rail pressure when cranking?

Did either of them carry out an injector leak-off test?

What did the other garages do ,what fault codes did they give you, did they just give it back as non starter?

Will system prime with primer ball? you could remove transfer pump and check the drive not broke.

I think you should look for a good garage to check it for you,you will get nowhere with out scanner/livedata and proper tools .

Hi,

They wouldn't give me fault codes, all they said was it was low fuel pressure. I have checked the pump as it was suggested that the shaft may have sheared, but all appears fine here. I will do a back feed test also and advise. Cant understand why it runs fine after starting with easy start...

Is there any other common faults I can check out before i do anymore?

Thanks Al

Forgot to add, hand primer goes hard after 1 squeeze...

So are any of these "BILLS" itemised so you can see what you have been charged for & work done ?
