It’s still only a best guess. I’d ask my top Ford man; but he’s legless down the pub!

P.S.  Ever wondered why abbreviation’s such a long word?

EAC = Electronic accelerator control.

put simply, its the electronic sensor fitted to the accelerator pedal, which takes the place of the cable to the throttle.

If the message is showing on the instrument panel intermittently, its points to either a poor multi-plug connection or a temporary fault in the sensor itself.

The pedal on the 02 model fiestas are a cinch to remove, just 3 10mm nuts hold it to the floor. try removing it and cleaning the connector pins

By the way, i remember a post about this fault a week or 2 ago............be nice if the poster would let us know what the problem was with his car...

cheers

Paul

Had very similar issue several times. In each case the one common event was hooking up a battery hot shot.
Since we think the battery was original, and thus 14 years old, although cranking ok, not enough volts to
power the electronics/relays etc. Replaced battery and now everything looks better!
