The ABS light is on all the time on my sons Renault megan 2001 1.4 petrol, when he took it for its mot it failed due to the light being on, he then had a diagnostic on it and it came back being an ABS wheel speed sensor, this has since been replaced but the light is still on, has any body got any idea what the problem could be please, thankyou.

Well whoever diagnoised it didnt do it correctly, take it back to them and get your money back or get them to diagnoise it correctly. Why would you take it for mot knowing thge light is on?

What tests were carried out to confirm the sensor itself was at fault?

Does the light stay on permantley ? or does it come on then go off and come back on when you are moving off?

Did the person who done the diagnostic scan give a description as well as a sensor fault.

like:- Nearside front wheel. implausable signal.?

Get your money back!   These garages and mobiles who advertise and charge for diagnostics like this really piss me off!  Or did you just pay for a code read not realising as you do now, that a fault code is not telling you what is wrong, but actually what is not working correctly.Wink

Once the fault has been rectified, the code will need to be cleared from the memory.

I agree with ianc, they are prone to cracking. You can buy the rings and replace them without replacing the whole Cv joint, be sure to make sure you get the correct one as there are 2 types depending on how many teethare on the ring. once replaced the light will reset when the car is driven, no need to reset it with diagnostics

 Hope this helps

Ian
