Hi, I have a 2003 Audi TT, ARY engine, in with a very intermittent short on fuse 15 in the facia fuse box.

It wont blow for me, it is a permanent live feed to the instrument cluster and the steering angle sensor.

Red/violet wire, according to autodata the fuse only feeds those two items and AD's help line confirms this (as much as they can)

Anyone (Crasher) had a short on the steering angle sensor or dash cluster before?

I have not had the wiring loom out to check but it looks very well protected from sharp metal edges or points where it could get trapped (between the fuse box and the steering column anyway).

Looks like i will need to isolate both circuits with extra fuses and take it for a long run, not much time for mega test drives this week though!!

Manual or auto? S15 is also for the alarm/ and more pertinently the alarm siren so I would run it with the alarm siren disconnected first.

The definition of an expert. An ex is a has been and a spurt is a drip under pressure

That makes sense! Thanks Crasher.
It has gone back to the customer with extra fuse holders to try to isolate the short when it happens, not sure when it will be back but I will check the siren first!

Got this back in today, the fuse has blown twice since I saw it last (last time was 7th Feb).
I isolated the steering angle sensor from the rest of the circuit with a seperate fuse holder, this fuse has not blown so narrowed down to the dash cluster or, as Crasher suggests, the alarm.

I have checked the feed to the siren but find that it does not share the same fuse, there is a feed there regardless of wether fuse 15 is in or not, looks like some stripping out is needed.

Break out the two remaining circuits, you need to know which one is the reason.
