Hi,
I have a problem with a Seat Ibiza the ABS is not working and the powersteering comes and goes randomly. The car has also tried to cut out a few timeswhile idling but for most of the time its fine. Besides these problems the caris running well. The power steering light is on, the handbrake light isflashing and beeping and the management light is on. I read the code P0600,Serial communication link. Which I believe means the ECU is receiving wronginputs from other modules. I have checked all the obvious problems fluidlevels, battery voltage for the pump, ABS sensors and all are fine. I amsuspecting that the ABS control module and the power steering pump are my problem. As I have replaced these parts on Skoda’s and VW’s many a time. Only thing thatis thrown me is the fact that both are gone together. Anyone every encounterthis, could be the ECU? Any help greatly appreciated.Smile

Welcome to the BBA Forum BigGrin

You will need to do a Global code read.

P0600 (which is only a drivetrain code) is CAN BUS which will need scopeing or at least testing with a DMM.

Does this car have those 'strip' fuses on/by the battery? A close inspection of, I suggest.

I stand, to be corrected.

Yeah I know the fuses crack and are a common problem, checked them and unfortunately they are fine. Also had the car on a Solus pro,ABS control module/circuit came up. Nothing came up to do with power steering. Is the ABS control module related to the electric power steering circuit?

Also, noticed on one of the ABS sensors that a wire had broken and been tapedup, but when I tested it with DMM from the ABS control module connector it wasfine.

The car has ESP, and I forgot to mention the speedo is not working either. Iwas looking on autodata at the wiring diagrams and the steering position sensoris linked to the ABS and power steering, could this be my problem? I have stillyet to find it and test it.

Also, how do I test the ABS control module to make sure it’s working?

Like I said the power steering is an intermitting problemand works fine once its working, if that makes sense.

Thanks for your help so far and any other input greatlyappreciated.

Have you scoped the CAN BUS ? DMM results ? Post all codes. Global code read with VCDS would be the of the greatest help.
