We have this camper van which came to us via 2 other garages with the problem. The van in question is a 02 iveco 2.8 direct injection type 35 s 11 engine code 8140.43.there's no way this vehicle will cold start without a whiff of brake cleaner Tho there is a very good rpm at cold cranking this vehicle has no heaterplugs but has a manifold heater which i'm told dosn't activate until minus 10. Once started van drives 100% allday long. the owner informs me the vehiclehas already beento the main dealers no fault codes found Iv'e been informed by a good source theres a issue with these losing there 12v ignition switch feed to ecu at cranking Can any 1 please shed some light on this Regards Johnjo

Regards,

Fred

Fred.

What are cranking RPM,s then ? What are compressions ? You better hope the manifold heater does not work if you are spraying sniff into it w00t I also can,t see how sniff will restore a 12 v feed, if you understand my thinking BigGrin

Can you post live data ? or are you working in the dark.

Kev.

It sounds a bit dangerous putting brake cleaner in if it has a manifold heater. Have you checked for power at ECU?

BigGrin I missed that point Kev! (I blame the long day: 400 miles to Mr Dillon's GDI course).

When it won't start; is there smoke from the exhaust?

I think the Flamestart works at well above minus 10. Is its heater coil continuous?

What's the primary and rail pressures when cranking - done a leak-off test?

We run various recovery trucks with that engine in and none of them work thr cold start until freezing or just below

Also ive seen a few of those 35s11's with injector loom problems
