Car was running fine before the belt came off, all the correct timing tools were using to lock the crank, inlet and exhaust cams.

It's now flat and has massive induction noise as it's trying to draw in more air than it can get out of the exhaust, feels majorly down on power, lack of torque etc, Compression test revealed 160psi per pot (Rater low for a 2.0 N/A engine?)

It's had a new VVT pulley fitted and is still the same, defiantly a timing issue, old belt that had come off was shredded and hopefully hasn't cause any engine damaged as it was running fine etc when it came in.

This timing kit was used..

I've removed both VVT and exhaust pulleys to check all key-ways etc. Must of checked and timing 3/4 times now and cannot see where I'm going wrong. I've even had a Peugeot/Citroen specialists to have a look at it who has 20 years experience between them, they're baffled by it also. They've had the belt off, checked timing themselves etc.

It'll throw cylinder one reference fault codes up but not consistently, can drive it for 100 miles before it does this and goes into limp mode with no throttle response etc

Whats the vacuume reading at idle? Might be silly question.. but does this motor have the harmonic type pulley with the crank timing hole in the outer ring that can move? (keyway at 90deg?) Have you put a timing light on it to see what that is showing (obviously not easy if it has coil on plug setup). I sometimes shine the flashes at the cam wheels and see how far advanced they show as a guide with painted timing marks at tdc. That might show up a sync problem if one exists??

Just a thought.

Have you checked it the exhaust cam ( fixed pulley ) pulley hasn't snapped it's locating peg.

I have known 2 do this, although the customer thought it was the "tappets noisy" on one of them.

If as you say it was fine before the new belt was fitted then the timing Must be out ,what i have done in the past in a similar situation is go back to basics, set piston 1 on tdc and then remove rocker cover and set cams with no4 valves on rock then recheck timing marks and it will show what is out!!Had to do this on a 1.6 pug that was totally flat and found the exhaust cam was two teeth out as the key way on cam pulley had sheared!
good luck!!

"I've removed both VVT and exhaust pulleys to check all key-ways etc"

I take it from this that all the pulleys were removed and the key-ways were checked.

A vacuum reading will tell us more.

Defiantly timing out by the looks of these VAC readings at idle....

Shouldnt we be seeing around 20inHg and not 11.51

Get a gauge on it & then you might find something different !

That looks to me like you have just done a straight conversion of 39 Kpa ??

It's got to be timing through mate, 160PSI per pot and flat as a pancake. Also fine before the belt came off
