Peugeot 2.0 HDi 110 estate, VF38ERHZF81468***

Same car, different problem. I've just discovered that this intermittent fault was present before the recent fiasco with the battery/BSI, and still remains subsequently.

Symptoms:

When the central locking is activated, there is the usual sound of locks engaging and indicators flashing and all the doors and tailgate lock correctly. Just as it should be. On the unlock command, everything unlocks as it should.

From time to time, apparently randomly, the locks engage and immediatley unlock. The sort of thing which happens if a door is not properly closed. But the doors and tailgate are fully closed and it will suddenly work correctly next time the remote is used.

The same thing occurs when using the key in the drivers door, ie not using the remote plip.

The similarity with the open door situation suggests that this might be a mechanical problem or a faulty sensor, but I've been wrong before.

Kind regards,

Paul

One master lock not engaging fully or not sending a 'locked' signal.

When it's cycling; try using the key and see which front door lock cures it - if either do.

A good squirt of WD40 in the right place can sometimes cure this.

Angus,

Thanks for the advice.

That seems to reduce five possible problem sites to two - nothing better than narrowing things down.

I'll get him to have a look as you suggest.

Kind regards,

Paul

Also worth checking wiring harnesses between door and vehicle body for damage

when testing it, press the drivers door into the pillar when you plip it with the key, then go to the other front door and do the same, the one that pops back is at fault.

Regards

Cyril
