OK, I occaisionally do this here butI have spent the best part of the afternoon trying to undo the crankshaft bolt on a 2006 Honda CRV i-CDTi.
Yes, I do have the pulley holding tool.
Yes, I have used every impact gun I own, including the scary 3/4 inch drive one.
Yes, I have heated the bolt up, repeatedly.
Yes, I have had my wife holding the pulley holding tool while I pull on a breaker bar.
Yes, both had a 4 foot length of scaffold pole on them.
Yes, it is a right hand thread.
Yes, I have now hurt my back.
Yes, I am going to the pub and will try again tomorrow.
Yes, I am p****d off. Right off!

Good suggestion Rob, and in a way what I did. I replaced my wife (purely for pulley un-doing purposes!) with a 6 foot 3 friend. That plus the lengths of scaffold pole did the trick!
Never had one that tight before though.

Exactly! We all have problems with things like crank pulleys from time to time but now I'm asked to consider whether to turn my back on a lifetime of carefully nurtured heterosexuality and marry a Mr Universe contestant for my trade.

Um, if I decide to take that route how much do you think I could put my hourly rate up by? Smile
