Hi allMy own car Golf tdi 2013 59000 mls not climate control
Heater started blowing cold air, coolant up to the mark, no codes ,heat flap works fine , so decided to back flush matrix with hosepipe and hey presto we have heat.
Anybody had any issues with these? water was clean and as far as I could see nothing came out of the matrix.
Thanks
Crasher

We have one to do, the matrix on the MQB platform seems to be very prone to blocking, you were lucky that a back flush worked, usually is doesn't. A word of warning to everyone, a customer thought he had a head gasket fault on the G7 and so he put K Seal in Pinch, now he has no heater and nothing we have tried will shift it!

Vile Invention

Dark was that day when Diesel conceived his grim engine that begot you, vile invention, more vicious, more criminal than the camera even, metallic monstrosity, bale and bane of our culture, chief woe of our Commonweal. How dare the Law prohibit hashish and heroin yet license your use, who inflate all weak inferior egos? Their addicts only do harm to their own lives: you poison the lungs of the innocent, your din dithers the peaceful, and on choked roads hundreds must daily die by chance-medley. Nimble technicians, surely you should hang your heads in shame. Your wit works mighty wonders, has landed men on the Moon, replaced brains by computers, and can smithy a "smart" bomb. It is a crying scandal that you cannot take the time or be bothered to build us, what sanity knows we need, an odorless and noiseless staid little electric brougham.

Not trying to hijack this tread but to me its better if these were linked

i have a 2013 a3 2.0 on a 8v1 chassis will this use a matrix common to the golf ?.

my problem is that the heat into the cabin reduces as the blower speed is increased.

i suspect the blower is cooling the matrix quicker than it can transfer the heat from the water

when the temp output drops i have approx 20 c difference on the bulkhead in / out connectors

i have checked the engine thermostat all seems ok 88 to 94, and checked the engine coolant pump
which i cannot fault, i also have swapped the two electric aux pumps

do we realy need engines with 3 coolant pumps a maze of hoses and 5 non return valves ? !!!!!!

We never used to! But if the matrix can't keep up with the cooling effect of the heater blower then,as you know, there is a restriction somewhere.

There is salt bags in the expansion bottle prone to busting and blocking the matrix. Check them first. Why they added this headache is beyond me. Poor quality car, scrap them all!

Cheers bd,

i did comment to myself how contaminated the header bottle was for a 47k motor, very stained with brown rust like deposits, more what you would see at 250k, i just put it down to short life antifreeze thats sold as long life G13, unlucky 13 for this owner

so now the question is how the f to get all the salts out or they will block the new matrix

When doing head gaskets i use a cup of degreaser to flush it out it cleans the oil out great try that a couple of times but no more than a cup of degreaser it gets to pressurised.

The problem with the vw's is when the bad busts the salt beads end up everywhere and they don't dissolve!
