Hi Guys, I have this Mercedes in my shop. I'm working on it for a used car dealer. I have a maintenance reminder that I can not reset because I have no communications with most all of the modules in the body . No communication with the cluster, air bags, doors ect.The ignition switch is the gateway on this car. I can't talk to it. From what I understand, the scan tool talks to the ignition switch on 1 wire. The wire is pin 1 on the data link connector and it passes through the SAM module before going to the ignition switch.
I have 12 volt on that wire with the key on.
Any way of testing the ignition switch?
The car runs fine. I can talk to the modules on CAN C. I can't talk to the modules on CAN B.
With the key on I have about 4.5 volts on CAN B+ and about 0.5 volts on CAN B-.
Is there anywhere that I could send this EIS (ignition switch) to get it tested?
The CAN lines are not shorted and even if they were I should be able to talk to the ignition switch anyway right?
One other thing, I see used ignition switches being sold. I understood that an ignition switch can not be used in another car. What's the deal, can a used switch work?
