Hi all. I'm new to the forum so be gentle..
So I have a 2008 ford focus it's my own car so hence I don't want to spend thousands on it and working in a garage the last thing I want to spend money on is my own car. However the Speedo has a like if it's own especially when it's hot,one minute it overeads and the next minute it's underreading the speed .

So I'm suspecting the instrument cluster is at fault maybe a dry joint somewhere as I ca
see a Speedo drive sensor like the MK1 focus had.

Any ideas would be gratefully appreciated

Have you scoped the signal from the speed sensor? Or even in live data what is road speed saying?

Hi, to be honest I didn't think the MK2 focus had a spied sensor as there is not one in the box like the mk1 had.I'll try scoping the signal but I suspect it is the instrument cluster itself as this morning it froze at 40mph .. then 40 became my new zero

on the limited info supplied. Read all cmdtc,s and live data and actuate the IC via diagnostics is the place to start.

Not difficult or expensive for some-one in the trade.

Sorry, there were some letters missing from your first post and I thought you were saying that you could see a speed sensor on the gearbox. If there isn't one then it will get the signal from the ABS. But you really need to follow Kev's advice before condemning the instrument panel. If it DOES turn out to be that then I daresay our hosts can repair it.
