Hi All,

Recovered an 05 modus the other day as had cut out during motorway run.

Maxisys scan detected fault df025- preheating unit diagnostic connection and no other codes...

Vehicle would crank and attempt to fire occasionally but no start, it would fire temporarily with easy start.

Performed injector actuation test with maxisys and four no4 injection to be louder than the other 3.

Then performed an injector bleed test and no4 bled excessively in cranking compared to the other 3.

Replaced injector 4 with a new unit to no avail so then re fitted the replaced injector to cylinder 2, after that it would start and run on two cyl's. The diagnosis then shifted to being 3 bad injectors and no4 was initially the good one.

So, replaced the two remaining bad injectors with new units, coded them up and it started and ran smoothly. Left it idling for 20mins or so and went for a test drive...made it approx 2 miles before hearing a slight diesel knock and then engine cut out never to re start..

Since then I've replaced fuel filter, bled up as per manual and confirmed no air in low pressure circuit.

Live data is showing engine speed (approx 210 rpm)and meeting of desired rail pressure (300bar).

Immobiliser is inactive, RCH cut out is active and starting is inactive within live data, battery is good and cranking OK.

Any suggestions for next steps please?

What voltages should I expect to see at injectors using an oscilloscope?

Thanks in advance
Robski

Using mazisys 906bt and autel maxiscope.

No current clamps to hand and the minute though, only voltage probes.

Cheers

<<< Swarf swarf swarf swarf swarf swarf! >>>

We're going to get to that aren't we when we see the waveform, the OP asked what steps next & what should be expected on a scope, so guessing the guy wants to learn but if you want to jump in with what's more than likely obvious it's over to you BD !

I did take a fuel sample from filter initially and couldn’t see anything although was in a clear container. Will check against a black background tomorrow to confirm.

@Rob - yes any info you have on oscilloscope readings would be great thanks 👍

All input is much appreciated, Cheers

Chris

I've never used Autel....

But for no cost you can sign up on the Pico Forum

Then download the Pico software - from in the software you can access the waveform library with your forum login.

There are also lots of guided tests on the website - volts on a `Piezo injector will tell you that the PCM is trying to fire up the engine.

But current draw is where the operating info is.

As Rob said Inj 1 - volts will do for an idea if the car is trying to start. FRP. and Rel comp, these 3 will give good insight into start sequence.

But BD may be right - swarf may shit on your day. You dont want to here that - Delphi pumps were made of chocolate in 2005

I learnt that the hard way on a Clio back then.
