Hi all,I have an old 06 Focus 1.6 TDCI estate which is suffering from an intermittent starting problem. One day it fires up, the next it will turn over but does not start.
I have managed to read the codes off, however I confess to knowing little about the diagnostics side. To me there seems to be an issue with comms to/around the pedal controls? Any help on where to start gratefully received

All symptoms of the dreaded connectors !

Ok, one last time.

C90 - The big one in the middle of the battery junction box.
C111 & C112 - The two big connectors behind the left kick panel.
C113 - This is the one that gets missed ! Take the glove box out, and its up in the corner where the left A Pillar comes down.
However, its under the sound insulation !
Feel around and you will find it.
Put a knife cut through the insulation, and feed it through.

By eye, you rarely see any issues with the connectors, but don't be fooled.
What I do is apply a small amount of contact grease, and then use two cable ties in a cross around the plug, and pull up as tight as possible.

You cant cable tie C90 due to its construction, so a visual check and contact grease.

Then test for the issues again.

If it faults again, come back with detailed symptoms and a fresh code list please.

Hi Andy,
Thanks for the reply. From your comments I assume this isn't the first time you've answered this question!

Anyway your advice is greatly appreciated. I'll carry out your instructions and report back here.

Thanks again

Dave
