| | Hi, Can anyone please help with any advice on a problem I have with a Mercedes A Class Automatic gearbox:- C/Number WDB1680332J****** year 2001 A160 model 1598cc The gearbox thumps into gear when reverse & forward are selected, whilst driving it will not change up from first gear,the BAS/ESP light is on all the time the ignition is on & whilst driving. | Check the transmission fluid level and get a code read done for starters.

| | Dave No drive then Thump ??? cracked drive disc,s maybe (common) and not many auto specialist like doing these, too many problems with warranty. Kev.

| Thanks for your advice,Will get codes read & oil checked tomorrow, The thump is when you initially engage gear but the drive is there straight away.

| | Hi, I checked the fault codes today & it was an extensive list ie. can data & no communications with ecu's oil temperture fault, oil sender fault,abs fault,no comms with gear shift, I cleared all the faults & took vehicle for a run & it was changing gear as it should be,on my return I read error memory & it was clear. Has anyone had one like this before? Thanks Dave.
