hi i have a peugeot 206 2L hdi 90 bhp it has run fine untill to day its hard to start and cuts out up hill the fault code says p1112 and is described on the fault code reader as fuel rail pressure i have taken the pump out of the tank ,cleaned it and blew through the pipe line up to a little black box with two wires to it (what is this) this sorts out the fault but returns within 5mins,It happens whenever i demand power over 2000 rpm but runs sweet as a nut up untill then. what can i do? the whole fuel system has been cleaned on the low pressure side to the best i can but only up to the high pressure pump. and a new fuel filter has been fitted. there were a few small metal particles in the fuel filter housing bowl, and this car has never had anything but high quality fuel in ie esso, shell etc,not morrisons please any help would be fantastic

Joe

Welcome to the forum.

What was the code number?  There are many rail-pressure related codes.

With a low pressure fault code and cutting out at higher engine speeds, basic thing to check first would be the fuel filter.

I had a garage call me out the other day for a Picasso Hdi with the same fault. The fuel filter was blocked almost solid.

Joe

P1112 on an EDC15C2 - Diesel high pressure monitoring function.  Pressure lower than the minimum pressure; (leak.)

If the filter is clean and there are no metal particles in the housing; bad starting would suggest an injector problem - get an injector leak-off rate test carried out.

Have you ever put anything other than pump diesel in it?

and cleaned the whole system out including pipes,

Whole system ? 100% - I think not, I trust you have not done anything with the HP pump, injectors and injector pipes. There are very capable people helping you here. Please, answer their questions, and stop  'worrying' about this one component you cannot identify.

I stand, to be corrected.

Hi Joe.mg.......Any sign of small metal particles in the fuel of an HDI is never a good sign. One small piece in an injector and your fuel pressures gone.Get it leak checked before you go to far..........Roadside

Always check the basics first !Rolleyes
