hi all just a quick question,we have in at the moment a 55 plate 1.9 dci renault kangoo suffering from poor starting and sometimes it wont start at all and then other times its perfect [well as good as it gets with a renault] we have read the fault codes and cleared them [lots of codes stored as customer has pulled of every senser wire he could]and then ran it up in the work shop, the reocuring codes were egr high resistance and glow plug module as we speak the van starts fine so iam not to worried about the glow plug fault but it would be nice to be able to test the egr valve before i spend nearly £300 quid of somebody elses money,so the question is how do i test this egr valve it has a 6 pin multi plug but only 5 pins are used and it is a delpi system.

300 quid...wow,wish we could get those jobs in

it will be easier just to go into the live data menu on youre scantool and check its feedback voltage, usually needs replacing regardless.

also check for maf sensor output.

IS the customer always right

Hi,
Firstly, check the wiring [it's french!].
If your running a Clip, check the V's in live data, and run some actuations, you might also be able to vary the voltage to the egr to see if it's acting correctly.

Try removing the egr valve. It will probably be very clogged up and jammed.

hi had a little play with this again today the fault is the egr valve area if you remove it [just dirty not too bad]  and make sure its in the closed position ,refit it and leave it electricaly disconnected the van runs ok when you reconnect the multi pin plug the engine runs rough or stalls.but i still would like to test the wiring ,autodata wiring diagram seems to differ from what i have fitted ?[does any body have a wiring diagram?] also on a 5 wire egr valve i thought you should see 12v supply on 1 wire which i dont seem to have.
