Looking for advice. Peugeot 206 2001 1.4LX 100,000 miles was running like dream after years of neglect. New spark plugs, oil filter, air filter, brake pads, discs, battery, timing belt just MOT'D. Nightmare happened, coil pack failed. AA fitted a new coil pack but there was electrical crackling noises coming from the ECU. Car lasted another day and packed in, ECU failure.

The ECU is a Sagem s2000-23 ECU, part no 9637706180-04. My question is, how easy is it to buy a new ECU and fit to car just to get it running again. Is it worth the cost? Or is it scrapyard heaven for the 206? Does the ECU have to be an identical replacement?

Any help appreciated Unsure

Welcome to the forum Wellplugged,
Shame to hear what happened.
Give our hosts a ring in the morning to see what the cost of repair/exchange/new ecu is.
They'll also confirm whether the ecu will need programming to the vehicle.
If they repair your own, i would say it will be plug and play, otherwise probably a reprogramme using dealer tool.
If this is required check the good garages link for someone close to you.
Good luck, and let us know how you get onSmile
Tony

AA fitted a new coil pack

I wonder whose coil pack it is/was?  Valeo?

I stand, to be corrected.

Wellpugged,

To be honest, these days it is a futile venture to fit any non-genuine coil (if this is the case with yours).

The risks of ECU damage are too high with the number of poor quality "OE spec" coils on the market.

Personally it's genuine article in a box from the dealers for me every time.

The smart move would be to get your own ECU repaired then you shouldn't have any coding issues and refit along with a genuine new coil from Peugeot.
