Good Morning Techies !

Today we have a 2006 Mondeo 2.2ST TDCI with fault codes as follows

P0405 EGR Sensor A Signal too small

P0406 EGR Sensor A High Input.

The car is fitted with an electronic EGR control system with a 5 wire multiplug, can anyone help with checks to validate wiring or help with solving problem.

Car drives as normal light flashes and loses power, client switched off and fault cleared temporarily as one would expect, I suspect EGR Unit but want to verify fiirst before shelling out on a hunch !

We previously looked at car about 4 weeks ago and gave the egr a de-coke, as per normal all bunged up, so we know its clean.

*** FIXED***

Using Multidiag and scope managed to home in and found signal faults relate to "current" draw rather than voltage issues, at the egr valve indicating the valve must be sticking hence increase current draw, fitted the new valve (£150) and rechecked current and voltage readings, found car also much more responsive too.

if it also has a vac pipe to the egr valve i would be inclined to do vacumn system checks, ie good supply, no chafed hoses or faulty control valve.
