| Not my thing but the GF of a friend of my business partners has this horrid thing and it won't run. It tries to go (even with a sniff of gas it makes no difference) and we have these fault codes pulled using the OBD II feature on VCDS. Thursday,02,September,2010,11:59:13:54529 VCDS Release 10.6.0: Generic OBD2 Mode 03: Emission related fault codes Address 7E8: 2 Faults Found: P0352 - Ignition Control Circuit for Cylinder 2: Malfunction P0351 - Ignition Control Circuit for Cylinder 1: Malfunction We have tried a new coil pack but this has made no difference and Autodata doesn’t have the wiring diagram, anyone got any ideas as I don’t want to spend too much time on it.

| Power at the coil? Fuse 19 to fuel pump relay and on to coil.
I stand, to be corrected. |

| | Crash Will those codes clear - and, if so, when do they return? Key-on or cranking? Time to get the scope out - as Rad says; a solid 12v to the middle pin and a normal LT trace on the outer pair. The basic trace data will be the same as most Fiestas. Measure the primary/secondary resistance and, if possible, the HT insulation values on the old coil. I've seen those codes after a coilpack failure - caused by both the switching transistors in the ECU having been backspiked and fried. In-loom LT tracking is another long shot to consider if the scope trace is a mess.

| Run away mate, FAST Get your basics out of the way first, but I have a nasty feeling already about this That age of KA had a concern of tracking water down the loom to the PCM harness plug and rotting it. A repair kit is available, but to get to the PCM you have to remove the complete dash panel ! If the basics don't show anything, thats where my money would be |

| I have a suspicion it is the ECU, my colleague Greg has scoped the coil pack plug and one side pulses and the other is dead.

| | I had these fault codes on a non start 2002 Fiesta Zetec-S 1600. Coil drivers in the ecu were knackered. Are you getting a flash of spark on initial first crank and then nothing? |

| Yes, an initial splutter and then cranking.
