Hello everyone
Recently I bought a fiesta 1.4 tdci 2007. It has around 80.000 km on the clock.
I have noticed that the engine shakes from 1000-1500 rpm on idle and while driving. above 1500 rpms it doesn't shake nor below 1000. Couple of days ago I did a reading and it showed something wrong with the second injector. I did another reading today and now it shows error codes p0263 p0266 p0269 and some other code . I found that these codes mean Cylinder Contribution/Balance Fault. I suspect the injectors, but i don't know how they can go bad for couple of days. There is no power loss, no smoke, no nothing, except for that shaking between 1000-1500 rpms. I put around 200 ml of 2 stroke oil in the tank today with 40L of diesel, advised by some local mechanics. Will see.
Also the engine knocking is rough. It sound like a tractor.

Anyone any idea? what should I do ?

Thanks in advance

It seems you are not alone!

'My' car will be coming in soon. The owner has reported a worsening of the effect on the interior lighting at low revs. I intend to substitute the alternator from one of our own vehicles.

I stand, to be corrected.

hello

radnorman thanks for your reply. I have read that thread but seems that there is no solution.

I want to try and replace the copper sealings and the 4 plastic spacers or brushes and the high pressure rubber pipe just to try and see, but I don't know the torque settings for the bolts and stuff for the injectors so if you could please help me and write me those settings.

How much I need to tighten the screws, which screw and how tight.

Like so many 'on here', your profile is blank. It appears to me you are an amateur - high pressure rubber pipe !  I'm not going to be 'party' to you injuring yourself, so I will not be assisting in your requested manner.

Like other owners, you seem to believe there is always an immediate 'cure'. Life is not like that, call me Victor Meldrew if you wish!

If there are no signs of 'blow by' why risk damaging the injectors by removing them?

There is a logic in declaring the injectors as defective. As yours is a 2007 car, you might be prepared to renew all four 'as a punt'. If you do it would good to know the 'result'.

I would suggest you have the IDS, cylinder balance/injector test performed as you only have three codes( 263,266 and 269), to 'verify'.

It would be very interesting to know the other code.

Rad

Thank you for your reply. You are absolutely right.

Today I did another reading at this shop close to home and here are the codes it gave me:

P0191 Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit Range/Performance
p0238 Turbocharger Boost Sensor A Circuit High
p0263 Cylinder 1 Contribution/Balance Fault
p0266 Cylinder 2 Contribution/Balance Fault
p0269 Cylinder 3 Contribution/Balance Fault
and p0504 or p504 something about the brake switch

Any ideas? Thanks

Well, now you have to further monitor the fuel rail pressure, the manifold ( boost ) pressure and brake light switch/es.

What country are you in?

I suggest a trip to a Ford Dealer, or, someone with a fully operational IDS to check for any possible update to the PCM ( engine management ).

I stand, to be corrected.

Hello radnorman

I took your advice and went to the ford dealer. They told me that they've did an IDS reading and that there are no errors AT ALL w00t
How can that be? Is it possible that the code reader that this garage in my neighborhood is using, could come up with these false faults ? Or is there something else going on ?

Could something else be causing that "tractor" sound and that shaking ? like the flywheel or something

Any idea would be much appreciated

Thanks
