The cluster has a built in self test.

Ignition off, press and hold the trip, keeping held switch the ignition on, and wait for "Test" to come up in the LCD.

Now each press of the button will cycle to the next test, first is a sweep test, then I think its second or third test will put the warning lights on.

Ignore U1900, you get that one for free, its always logged BigGrin

hi folks

owner brought car in this evening on his way home from work

i done andys test and lights in cluster come up solid green for turn signals also scanner gets same test results

one thing the owner tells me is that they do come on some times and he seems to think this all started after hitting a pot hole and indicating at the same time

i take it from the replys its not a common fault

he is going to sort out a time when he can leave the car with me as he uses it six days a week and im not working on a sunday for no one, he did ask

the other thing i noticed is you cant here any relay clicking or any noise at all when the indicators are flashing outside

any more thoughts welcome

Four connectors I need you to look at, along with the obvious ones of on the back of the cluster, and the Gem.

C90 - The large one in the middle of the battery junction box.
C111 - Near side kick panel.
C112 - Near side kick panel.
C113 - Behind the glove box, up where the A pillar joins the bulk head, but behind the sound insulation !

You do not normally see much wrong with these connections, but ensure they are fully latched, and put a couple of cable ties round them to pull up tight !

andy and rob

thanks for the super info i hope to get this car back to have a look next week it was his dad that brought it in the first time and did not now much about it other than dash lights not working

when to owner came in the other night and told me the way it started after hitting pot hole

i was thinking lose connection somewhere as he said it has started working sometimes

its been like this for six months he says, i dont think he is that bothered about it but wants to sell the car soon and wants the lights working for that reason

i have left next wedensday evening free to get a look at it and hopefully post a fix to it.

and once again thanks andy for the heads up info on where to look first

thanks guys

car got left in this morning and i started first with nearside kick panel connectors as it was p/side he hit pothole on

sure enough the lower connection blocks pins where not getting a good contact

so i tightened them up and put a cable tie around each of the two connectors and job done

thanks andy for the advice on places to check and saved me a load of time

cheers guys
