hi guys (i only found this forum at 5am this morning so im sorry if i miss any info) thought id give this a try before we give up hope on our beloved car
had a letter telling us to take our car in for some recall work on a cooling fan so took the car in and 4 hours later when my boyfriend collected it they told him that they had also done a software update. When my boyfriend turned the key the engine management light came on, he went back into the garage and they had a look and told him they would check that the fan had been wired in correctly, they told us that they thought they had fixed it as the light had turned off. my b/f drove the car home fine and the light stayed off (we live approx 5 mins away from the garage) when he next turned the key the light came back on so he took it back to the garage and they told him (rudely) that it was nothing to do with them and they could look at it in 3 weeks time and it would cost us £90. he left the garage and collected my dad (who has been a mechanic for 30 years but deals with vauxhalls) and they went back up to the garage and when my dad asked if they could look at it any sooner than 3 weeks they told him that my b/f had been lying and it wouldnt take 3 weeks, anyway the car was booked in for 2 days later.
when the car went in 2 days later they read the error codes and told us that the DPF needed changing and if we changed it then it would solve the problem. had the DPF changed and nothing was different.
^^^^^^ all this was almost 2 months ago and since then weve spent hours and hours on the phone and online trying to get some help, also the codes have been read a few more times which costs us £90 a time , the codes are still the same as they were before the DPF change.
the cars booked in today (18/10/11) for them to look at it again (£90) so i was just wondering if any of you guys on here could help in any way?
the work they did: cooling fan recall and DPF regeneration strategy recall
the codes: P138b glow plug control module system voltage, P2458 diesel particulate regeneration duration, P0113 IAT sensor circuit high input, P0448 EGRIP position control performance or range fault.
the car was running fine before it went in and we had never had a problem with it, now it sounds and feels a bit like a tractor.
theyre now saying its the turbo gauge that was fitted approx 2 years ago but was just looking for some help before we spend loads more money as weve spent over £1000 trying to get it right already.
