I have a ford fiesta Mk3 finesse
Ever since taking the car for a MOT I have had trouble with the car. I am reluctant to take the car back to the garage as i just dont trust em. It is either co-incidence or they have pulled a wire off or something. am I too suspicious???
It is the strangest fault. When driving the car when it is cold when u take your foot off the gas it stalls. It is fine once the car has warmed up. On warm days it does not have this problem either. It seems to be intermittant, sometimes when cold the idle speed is about 1300 approx but sometimes it goes down to 500 and then stalls. The spark plugs are fine and so is the air filter. Any ideas anyone?? I think this car has the CVH engine. Does this car have a choke? or some kind of sensor that says the engine is cold that I could check?? Any help would be much appreciated

It’ll be an OHV engine running the Single point injection probably so no choke to worry about. It could be a lot of different things causing your problem, however a few things worth checking are the Coolant Temp Sender and the connection to the Crank Angle Sensor on the front of the engine. Can’t see any connection to the Car having it’s MOT unless the tester has been particularly heavy handed and dislodged something. Let us know how you get on.

ps. check the bba site with reference to fiesta throttle bodies

Thanks for your reply. Had a good look at it today. I found the air intake temperature sensor plug to be very corroded inside so I cleaned it, also cleaned the coolent temperature sensor connections too for good measure. I didnt know what you meant by Crank Angle sensor? But it seems to be running fine now It might be because it has wamed up as i tested it, and it is a intermittant problem. So I am going to test it a few times over this bank holiday weekend and hopefully the problem is sorted.... I will let you know. Thanks
