Hi
When changing gear, and pressing the clutch, the revs tend to increase rather than decrease through transaction when changing up or down gear. Does anyone have any idea why this is?

My car had the same problem, it is a Ford Fiesta with a Zetec 1.4 lt. engine.

I also asked almost the same question in the forum but I havent received an answer yet.

Since the problem I had with the speed going up just when shifting and never stopped I thought it was related with the speed. The Ford Fiesta has a speed sensor located where the speedmeter cable goes to the motor (right rear part of the motor)(front view). I disassembled the speedmeter cable and then the sensor (be shure to disconnect the sensor first because wires may turn and brake), then I found out that the sensor was dirty inside (oily) I cleaned it up with a electronic potentiometer cleaner (spray) so it enter in the sensor without sissasemble it. A lot of dirt came out of the sensor and the car has been running fine for 2 days.
It would be something to try.

I wish you good look (it worked for me !!!).

Javier Nagore.

look at the clutch pedal sensor, on some cars it was left out from production.

After 4 days since I cleaned up the speed sensor, it started to fail again, I suppose that it must have a damaged O ring or something that let the oil or dirt inside it.

Yesterday I decided to try something, I just disconnected the speed sensor (just the electrical connection) in order to diagnose it and the car has been working fine the problem hasnt been repeated.

Anyway, what I am doing it is just to diagnose the problem to be shure to buy a new speed sensor, but I also will try to do what Mr. James McCallum sugests my car has about 85,000 Km and the problem started when the dealer replaced the clutch on december (good clue).

Best regards and good look.

Hi. I have done a few of these late model fiesta’s an ka’s
i have been told that you are supposed to change throttle position sensor and part of the wiring, but the ones that i have done have been cured by fitting a new isc valve, cleaning out the throttle housing and disconnecting the battery or ecu to re-set it.

Try cleaning the idle speed control motor with carb cleaner. Removal is easy, as is the cleaning. It’s a common fault.

I have similar problems in my Fiesta. Where is the clutch switch located? How can I find it?
