Had the above car in to replace seal in the gearbox loom multiplug. Lost oil so went to remove dipstick and it is like the mercs ie No stick just a blanking piece. Phoned Merc as the car uses the same gearbox as the AMG 55 They sent through a dipstick which they say does all merc autoboxes Part No W140589152100 This thing is about 4ft long and only goes in just over halfway before bottoming out. It looks more like a dipstick for an a lorry. Anyone come over this problem ?

Great, so now I know I've got a 4ft dipstick coming.

Had an S500 that had lost oil. Checked for presence of oil with a bicycle brake cable, as no dealer here. Cable bottomed out at around 3ft.....

I've placed an order for the same part no....

After contacting local Merc Dealer we were informed that you just fit the dipstick till it bottoms out then read of oil level the lenght is not relevent
