I have towed in an 03 fiesta 1.3 petrol. I am not overly familiar with this particular model as it is not the old valencia engine. The car started to misfire and in a short period of time chucked it. I pulled no 1 lead and had no spark so i checked for supply voltage to the coil pack and i got a positive reading. So i fitted a new coil pack and it failed miserably. On further investigation i took all the leads out and checked for any spark. I had 2 and 3 perfect but but 1 and 4  dead as dodos.  I checked the wiring diagram and it looks as if the coil pack has two feeds( correct me if neccesary) and i should be checking source at e.c.u.   Has anyone come across this problem before or have you any ideas. The unfortunate thing is that it would,nt let a snap on code reader in to the system. The other problem i seem to have is that the plug to ecu seems to be on with a security bolt (why), which is not helping me atall.  memory takes me back to petrol saxo which fed for want of  better words had ecu problems with supply voltage to coil pack, is this in the samre mould? Help!

Considering you have a spark on 2 cylinders, you either have a break in the wiringor a bad ECU.Personally, I thinkit's goingto be the ECU, because evenon 2 cylinders it should still start.Checkfor an injection pulse and fuel pressure.

this is now fixed!  the ecu needed replaced and some of the loom. with this particular model of fiesta the run of this ecu was a short one before ford changed it yet again, which in real terms meant a replacement from ford at a very sore price.
