hi
i have got a 1996 ford maverick 2.7 td in with a fly by wire pump it will crank over but it wont fire up i have found that there is no fuel getting to the injectors, the stop solonoid is working fine and there is diesel geting to the pump, i cant find a crank sensor but there is a cam shaft sensor could anyone tell me how to test the cam sensor and what value's i should expect from it ? does the cam sensor control the electrics of the pump and how do you test the pumps electrics? is there a diagnostic plug on this vehicle and if so where? any help would be gratefully received as the guy that owns it really needs it on the road asap.

many thanks in advance jon

i have posted about a fault with one of these in the past and could be the same fault.

if you take out the banjo bolt where the fuel enters the pump either inside the bolt (on LATER MODELS) or under the bolt down inside the pump you will find a very tiny filter. these get blocked and cause problems. it could be yours.

hope this helps.

Dave

try searching for

nissan terrano 2.7 td   (missfire and smoking)

Bring Back Plugs & points. The world was a much better place. lol

hello jon  checked cd3 today you can retrieve & erase fault codes, flash type by using mil light & bridging two wires.i can fax info to you if you wish.as ref to above post, the fine  bango filter is a common fault & easily rectified by cleaning, but i would have expected the vehicle to show some kind of pre non start symtoms when driving, holding back & smoke-fuel starvation symts etc
