RE: Ford Focus 1.8 16V Vetec yr 2001 "Y"

Car startede to missfire and then wouldn't start. AA replaced coil pack and it now starts. However it has a missfire and the dash dials flicker when the miss occurs ( whilst ion workshop stationary) On the road it missfires-not sure about dash dials yet.

It has new spark plugs, leads and coil.

it might be worth checking the speedo transponder/generator as this is a know fualt on earlier focus.

Worth checking that it has the correct spark plugs fitted, as they have been know to cause dash problems as you describe !

1. Check alternator output, if output high, check and repair alternator.

2. If coolant temp sensor fitted between numbers 2 & 3 spark plug wells, check wire from sensor is not resting on ht leads. If so, reroute  cable..

WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY !! ( WHERE'S THE POWER BUTTON ?? )

If I had a bad spray pattern from an injector, would I:

1) get a miss, like an HT misfire, as the throttle is bliped sharply from idle?

2) See the effect of this on an HT wave form?

3) if wave form is effected, in what way?

Last resort after long chat with customer:

Put new coil on it????

So what was the HT scope telling me?????

O2 sensor showed the two missfires but the ht scopes- no idea what they were trying to tell me?????
