hi hope some one can help with this .
i have a customer with an 03 1.9 tdi galaxy mk2 88'680 miles on the clock.
When he drives the vehicle it can stall and then it will not restart until after cranking the engine for quite a while.  He has taken it to Fords and they plugged the diagnostics machine and found no faults.  I have looked at the vehicle myself and have carried out a service, replaced the fuel filter as it had not been changed for some time.  I also checked for any fault codes using the Launch machine and found none.  It seems like it is a fuel problem as the engine plays up as if it is going to run out of fuel before cutting out.  Has anybody come across this problem before and please advise. Huh? Huh?

Tandem pump failure?

Hi

Drive it down the road let it cut out, then remove the fuel in pipe on the filter & check to see what the in tank pump is doing, you should have a good flow there.

Done quite a few in tank pumps on seats & VW Smooooth

Cool

I would rather be sailing

Mike

I'd forgotten that Ford fit lift pumps on the Galaxys; what's the engine code?

Hi.

you should get 1 bar pressure from the lift pump in the tank, and 5 bar from the high pressure pump on the end of the head. You will see a torqx bolt in the lower left side of the pump, you remove that to fit an adaptor to test the pressure.

Mike, it's only 1 and 5 bar, you could use an oil pressure gauge or similar with a little Heath Robinson type trickeryCool

I could give up Stella, but I'm no quitter. Beer Drinker
