Andrew,

If this is the same as the 1.9 cdti (fiat engine) then check on top of the inlet manifold as this engine has 4 x butterfly valves operated by a solenoid on one valve and the rst are connected by a rack system. This rack system fails (falls off!), have a look and see, it,s quite obvious.

Andrew,

Alistair's info is spot on and directly applies to your engine.

thankyou Alistair for this info, I had a good look around and could see a lever operated by vacuum unit this was not operating I removed the inlet manifold and i could see a set of butterflys these were metal and were stuck shut with carbon, stripped manifold and cleaned refitted and now working correctly, the performance has not improved between 1000 and 2000 revs but after 2000 revs performance is great engine light came on about 100 miles later with the same fault code have you any other ideas we will have the car back in at the end of the week thanks again.

Had this same code today on vectra 1.9cdti and it was a coked up egr valve that was causing it. Strangely no P0400 EGR VALVE code like they normally have. Anyway I blanked it off with a plate where the pipe joins on underneath and she is flying.

Maybe this helps...hope so.

Regards

Andy.

we have a astra H 1.7d cdti engine code Z17DTH spanner light came on whilst driving code logged was P2279 intake air leak mechanical fault, i have checked all air pipes and inter cooler visually all apear to be ok, can anyone help with this fault.

the first job we did was remove the inlet manifold and clean all the carbon which was preventing the butterflies from working the fault was still there.

removed egr valve and cleaned fault still there

fault came down to map sensor.but no fault code was logged for map sensor.
