Engine code and year might help.

Injector[s] failed?

What's the fuel pressure cranking?

You'd often get that P0251 code.

Do a leak-off test - I'm not a betting man, but I'd be surprised if at least two aren't gone.

The oil dilution would fit with injector failure too. [Don't fit re-cons BTW.]

I'm getting pretty jaded about common-rail re-cons in general. I'm recommending outright new only from now on.

Re-con Delphi ones never seemed to work successfully [but you couldn't convince a taxi driver...] and I've now seen two nightmare [non-Piezo] HDi ones in the last month - one on a 2.2 Relay and one on a 2.8 Iveco.

Both had excess[!!] leak-off and non-start; but the re-con replacements rattled and smoked their heads off - even though the supplier swore blind that there was nothing wrong with them on test. [New dealer ones cured both.]

leak of test is where you remove the leak back pipe and replace it with one attached to a messuring tube and messuse the amount of fuel leakin back on cramk for each injector
you can get cheap kits now
