hi all

Vehicle has come in with high idle new iac unit fitted and new ecu and is still running high / hunting .. smoke tested for air leaks all ok has anyone had trouble on high idle on this vehicle, theres nothing on autodata  iac valve is a four wire and is wide open, fault code P0511 idle air control circuit.  checked resistance between teminals 1 and 2 / 3 and 4 both 46 ohms checked also resistance on new unit to see if correct (same) at the wire end iac disconnected there is at this moment  12v supply to  pins  1 and 2 and earths at 3 and 4.  throttle postion sensor is 9.4 volts check with meter i know the early engines should rear lower .7 or so, is this the same with this one. also unless i am going mad theres no air mass sensor does anyone know how these valves work there seems to be no voltage movement on the wires what could be stopping this valve from working

hope this explanation sound right thanks phill

Phill, do you mean 0.94 Volts from the TPS?

Is it erratic when driving and revs hanging when slowing or changing gear?

I think you should still be looking for 0.7 volts at idle, but could be wrong. You should be able to see the voltage in live data.

Your tps voltage is far too high. The max should not exceed 5volts. This could be caused by a bad tps or a cross wire. The reading you have will be telling the ecu it's wot (wide open throttle) and command the idle motor fully open.

Phill

These use a MAP sensor; so there's no MAF like the Fiesta.

Phill

On an A9B the TPS voltage at idle should be 0.7 to 1.1.

More importantly, the ECU should be showing the throttle status as "Idle" and not "Part Load."
